March 12 - Campbell explains the contrast between GoldenEye and Casino Royale

"The great thing about it is that he makes mistakes and screws up. Bond finds violence hard to take, he won't admit to that. He has to do two killings, one is very messy. He falls in love with a girl, genuinely falls in love," director Martin Campbell explained to Pulse 24.

The action sequences the James Bond franchise is so famous for will go back to the basics, which appears to be the theme for a large part of Casino Royale.

There will no computer generated imagery and the stunts will be real.

There won’t be as many of those nifty gadgets the super spy is so famous for – like his invisible car - or the huge action blast scenes like the ones in 2002’s Die Another Day or 1995’s Golden Eye.

The creative minds behind the upcoming picture felt that technology was beginning to overshadow the plot.

"Even after 'GoldenEye' I remember remarking, thinking, how many control rooms, how many madmen can take over the world?" Campbell said. "Where the hell do you go with it? Do you get another madman, do you blow up another control room? How many space stations can you take?"

The films based on Ian Fleming’s novels have grossed almost $4 billion since Dr. No, starring Sean Connery, was released in 1962.

"If you don't grow and change you die and we felt this was the right time and the right story to tell, and Daniel was the right guy to do it," co-producer Barbara Broccoli said. "So here we are."

March 6 - Barbara Broccoli sets the record straight about Daniel Craig

Variety yesterday set the press rumors straight with insight from the both veteran Producers Wilson and Broccoli who are commitment to the franchise and the support of newcomer Sony.

"His teeth are fine, his driving is fine, he doesn't have heat rash and he's not afraid of the water."

That's producer Barbara Broccoli's assessment of the new James Bond. If she sounds prickly, you can't blame her. Tabloid reports that 007 thesp Daniel Craig has been taking a beating on the set of "Casino Royale," the Martin Campbell-helmed Bond pic due out in November from MGM/Sony, have rained down on the production almost from the first day of shooting.

March 4 - Heineken to make 007 return in Casino Royale, large campaign planned

Advertising agency StrawberryFrog has been tasked with developing a multimillion pound global Heineken campaign based on the brewers’ relationship with the new James Bond film.

Heineken has long had an association with the 007 franchise and is a sponsor of the latest movie, Casino Royale. The film, scheduled for release in the UK on 17 November, introduces new James Bond actor Daniel Craig, who replaces Pierce Brosnan.

Previous Heineken involvement began with product placement in the film Tomorrow Never Dies in 1997. Heineken ran advertising alongside the film featuring the now deceased actor Desmond Llewelyn, who played inventor Q in the franchise. The print campaign carried the strapline “Some things should be shaken, not stirred.”

The recent Bond-related campaigns were developed by Wieden & Kennedy Amsterdam. However, Strawberry Frog was appointed to the brewer’s account last August following a final pitch against McCann Erickson, London.

The brewer did state last year that it was moving spend out of television and into alternative forms of marketing.

March 3 - 007 on set in the Bahamas

New photos have been leaked in the media of Daniel Craig, Caterina Murino and the Aston Martin DB5 on location in the Bahamas.

Caterina Murino plays villain Dimitrios's wife Solonge in "Casino Royale".

James Bond wins his DB5 after defeating Dimitrios in a poker game, and not satisfied with taking just his car, Bond gives Solonge a ride home with the inevitable consequences.

In the pictures, the first female costume of the movie is revealed, with Murino wearing a stunning red silk dress. The new number plate of the DB5 is also visible: 56526

March 2 - Pro-Craig website set-up in response to angry fan petitions

Breakfast DJ Christian O’Connell has lept to the defence of new James Bond star Daniel Craig - reports The Sun.

The Virgin radio host launched http://www.Givecraigachance.com live on air yesterday morning, asking listeners to lend their support the blonde actor.

And due to such an overwhelming number of visitors, the site crashed in just a few hours - proving thousands of true Bond fans approve of Daniel's appointment.

He said: "Yes, Craig is a far cry from previous cinematic Bonds but he is a lot closer to the Bond of Ian Fleming's original novels; troubled, driven, cold.

"And as for him being ugly … well all we can say is that most of the ladies we know disagree. We reckon Moneypenny will have nothing to complain about."

Christian's launch was in response to www.craignotbond.com, a website which attacked Daniel's hiring last year.
